Pressure Washing & Sealing

PRESSURE WASHING AND SEALING POOL DECK AND DRIVEWAY

This was one of many PRESSURE WASHING, SEALING POOL DECK and DRIVEWAY jobs.

We are trying work with a focus on quality and use one of the best products on the market.  Some competitors manage to do pressure washing and sealing both pool deck and driveway in half day. You might be asking, how is that possible? The answer is simple. They do a light, quick power wash, brush ordinary sand in the gaps between the blocks when everything is still wet. This causes the sand to expand and does not drop as deep as it should into the gaps. Also, spraying water base sealant on wet or damp blocks means the sealant will not penetrate as deep as it would if the blocks were completely dry. The result will look very nice for a short time. After about 4-6 weeks, the sand will start drop down between the gaps and the gaps will start to fill up with dirt and mold. The driveway or the pool deck will need next to be re-done.

We try to do stuff differently. We spend approximately 3x longer on the power washing and trying to get deep cleaning as you can see in the picture. The reason is to get out as much dirt as possible from between the block. We leave it dry for 24 – 48 hours then brush in the polymeric sand between the gaps. Because the gaps will be dry after 24 – 48 hours the dry polymeric sand will drop deep between the gaps. After brushing, we gently blow the dust off the top of the block and gently mist the driveway or pool deck with water to get it moist, then the polymeric sand starts to get hard. We leave it again to dry 24-48 h then we apply 2 coats of the sealant. Why 2 coats? As the blocks are completely dry the sealant can penetrate deeper into the block. Usually if it is done our way, the next sealing will need to be done in 2 – 3 years.

As mentioned at the beginning, we have done many of the PRESSURE WASHING, POOL DECK SEALING, DECKS and DRIVEWAYS in Venice FL area.
